Job summary
A logistics services provider in Malaysia is seeking a dedicated Purchasing Officer to manage end-to-end purchasing activities. The role involves negotiating with suppliers, monitoring market trends, and ensuring compliance with procurement policies. Ideal candidates have at least 3 years of experience, a diploma or degree in a related field, and must be fluent in Mandarin. - Manage end-to-end purchasing activities including purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and delivery follow-ups
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best pricing, quality, and delivery terms
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers and identify new reliable vendors
- Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and pricing to ensure competitiveness
- Lead price negotiations and contract discussions with suppliers
- Drive cost-saving initiatives and continuous improvement in procurement processes
- Review and analyze purchasing data to optimize procurement strategies
- Coordinate with warehouse, operations, and sales teams to plan purchases based on demand forecasts and stock levels
- Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages, overstock, or obsolete items
- Ensure suppliers comply with company policies, quality standards, and delivery requirements
- Manage supplier documentation including quotations, contracts, and agreements
- Resolve supplier-related issues such as delivery delays, quality concerns, and disputes
- Work closely with internal departments (Operations, Finance, Sales) to support business needs
- Prepare purchasing reports, cost analysis, and supplier performance evaluations
- Guide and support junior purchasing staff when required
- Review and enhance purchasing procedures, policies, and internal controls
