Applications programmers write and maintain programmable code based on technical instructions and specifications for software applications and operating systems. Key tasks include:

1. Writing and maintaining program code according to instructions and standards
2. Revising, repairing, or expanding existing programs to improve efficiency or meet new requirements
3. Conducting trial runs of programs to ensure they produce the desired results
4. Documenting program development processes
5. Identifying and communicating technical issues, processes, and solutions
