Responsibilities
Source, evaluate, and negotiate with local and international suppliers to obtain the best pricing, terms, and quality.
Prepare and process purchase orders based on material requirements and stock levels.
Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier databases.
Coordinate closely with Production, R&D, QA/QC, and Warehouse teams to ensure timely availability of materials and that all materials meet required specifications.
Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to delivery, quality, or non-compliance.
Assist in the development and review of procurement strategies to optimize cost and efficiency.
Ensure proper documentation and compliance with company policies, GMP standards, and audit requirements.
Identify and recommend potential new suppliers to support new product development and business growth.
Participate in regulatory and internal audits (e.g., GMP, ISO, HALAL) and ensure procurement-related records and processes are audit-ready.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Science, or a related field.
1–3 years of experience in purchasing or procurement; preferably in the food, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing industries.
Familiarity with scientific terms is an added advantage, as the role involves working with a wide variety of raw materials.
Experience with importation processes, sales tax exemption documentation, and liaising with shipping agents and customs departments is a strong advantage.
Familiarity with raw materials, packaging, and consumables used in capsule, tablet, powder, or liquid formulations is a plus.
Experience in preparing for and participating in audits is preferred.
Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
Good command of written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia. Mandarin is a plus (for liaising with suppliers).
Proficient in Microsoft Office and purchasing/ERP systems.
Able to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines under pressure.
