The General Manager leads the overall operations, profitability, and strategic growth of the automotive business unit in Malaysia. This role requires navigating a dynamic market characterized by a recent record-high vehicle sales in 2024 but a forecasted sales normalization or slight decline in 2025. The General Manager must drive business success amid intensifying competition from new electric vehicle (EV) entrants, evolving customer preferences, and regulatory shifts towards sustainability and digital transformation.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Manage all operational functions including sales, after-sales service, parts, finance, and administration to meet business objectives.
2. Develop and implement business strategies that address Malaysia’s current automotive trends, including the growing EV market, digital customer engagement, and sustainability initiatives.
3. Lead efforts to capitalize on the increasing EV adoption in Malaysia, currently growing at over 100% year-on-year, by expanding EV sales and supporting charging infrastructure partnerships.
4. Oversee product launches and marketing campaigns to maintain competitiveness in a market expected to stabilize or slightly decline in 2025.
5. Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, leveraging digital tools and data analytics to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.
6. Build strong relationships with OEMs, government bodies, and technology partners to stay ahead of regulatory changes and market developments.
7. Ensure compliance with local regulations, environmental standards, and safety protocols.
8. Lead, mentor, and develop the management team and staff to build a high-performing and adaptable workforce.
9. Monitor financial performance, budgeting, and forecasting to ensure sustainable profitability.
10. Drive customer satisfaction through superior service standards and digital engagement platforms.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Proven leadership experience in the Malaysian automotive sector or related industries.
3. Strong knowledge of Malaysia’s automotive market trends, including EV growth, government policies, and consumer behaviour.
4. Business acumen with expertise in sales, marketing, financial management, and strategic planning.
5. Experience in digital transformation and adoption of new automotive technologies.
6. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
7. Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
8. Willingness to travel as needed.
