Job summary
A manufacturing company in Malaysia is seeking a Maintenance Assistant Manager to support the management of all maintenance activities in the factory. This role involves planning preventive maintenance, supervising technicians, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have a background in mechanical or electrical engineering, along with 3-7 years of experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment. A Boilerman certification is an added advantage.
Qualifications
- 3–7 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or factory environment.
- Experience in supervising technicians and handling utilities is preferred.
- Ability to read technical drawings and maintenance manuals.
- Boilerman Certificate / Boiler Operation License is an added advantage.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and executing preventive and corrective maintenance for production machinery.
- Coordinate closely with Production, Quality, and Safety departments.
- Supervise maintenance technicians and allocate daily tasks.
- Support compliance with statutory inspections, audits, and certifications.

The Maintenance Assistant Manager supports the Maintenance Manager in managing and supervising all maintenance activities within the factory to ensure uninterrupted production, safe operation of machinery, and compliance with statutory and safety requirements. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, breakdown response, utility management, and team supervision. Boilerman certification is an added advantage, particularly for factories operating boilers and steam systems

Factory Maintenance Operations
- Assist in planning and executing preventive and corrective maintenance for production machinery, utilities, and factory infrastructure.
- Ensure high availability and reliability of production equipment to minimize downtime.
- Support maintenance of utilities.
- Monitor boiler operation and maintenance in compliance with legal and safety requirements (where applicable).

Production Support
- Coordinate closely with Production, Quality, and Safety departments to support production schedules.
- Respond promptly to machine breakdowns and lead troubleshooting activities.
- Ensure maintenance work does not disrupt production unnecessarily.

Team Supervision
- Supervise maintenance technicians, fitters, electricians, and utility operators.
- Allocate daily tasks and monitor work progress and quality.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and performance feedback to the maintenance team.

Safety, Compliance & Quality
- Support compliance with statutory inspections, audits, and certifications (especially boilers, pressure vessels, and lifting equipment).
- Assist in preparing maintenance schedules, breakdown reports, and KPIs.
- Maintain maintenance records, logbooks, and spare parts documentation.
- Support spare parts planning, inventory control, and maintenance cost optimization.
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- Boilerman Certificate / Boiler Operation License – Added Advantage
- Safety, TPM, or maintenance-related certifications are a plus.
- 3–7 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or factory environment.
- Experience in supervising technicians and handling utilities is preferred.
- Ability to read technical drawings and maintenance manuals.
- Basic computer skills for reports and documentation.
