Job summary
A civil engineering firm in Johor Bahru is hiring a Resident Engineer (RE) / Inspector of Works (IOW) to supervise construction works on a hotel project. This role demands strong civil engineering skills, including project supervision and compliance with building regulations. The candidate should have at least 6 years of experience and educational qualifications in civil engineering, registered with a recognized body. The position offers a competitive salary and requires night shifts.
Qualifications
- Minimally a Degree in Civil Engineering (for RE) / Diploma in Civil Engineering (for IOW) from a recognized institution.
- Registered with a professional body, such as the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
- At least 6 years of relevant experience in Civil & Structural Works.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the works in accordance with the Building Control Act and approved plans.
- Maintain quality control and ensure compliance with specifications and drawings.
- Ensure work is carried out safely and properly.
- Provide daily and weekly reports regarding progress.
- Participate in site meetings and oversee daily construction activities.

RE - RM 10,000 - RM 15,000 / IOW - RM 5,000 - RM7,000
Duration of Works:
Target December 2025 to November 2027 (24 months)
Job Description:
Responsibilities to the Building Authorities to supervise the works in accordance to the Building Control Act, Regulations and approved plans.
Analyse all project drawings and specifications, and to feedback on any discrepancies and/or possible issues before work commences on-site and through the course of the project.
Supervise the construction and related works, maintain quality control and ensure that the works are carried out in accordance with the project specifications, materials, drawings, sketches, and site instructions by the supervising qualified persons and project consultants.
Ensure that the contractors carry out their work in compliance with the Building Control Act and Regulations, Codes of Practices, and requirements of building authorities and government agencies.
Observe and comply with site safety and ensure that works are carried out in a safe and proper manner.
Supervision of all Civil & Structural Works with proficiency in Architecture as required under the project and mandated under the Building Control Act & Regulations.
Report to Superintending Officer (SO).
To provide a consolidated daily summary and weekly reports.
Participate in Client/Consultant's site meeting and technical meeting when requested.
Oversee daily construction activities and ensure regulatory compliance.
Maintain all relevant forms, documents, correspondence, and records about the progress of work.
Require to work night shift.
Requirement:
