Job summary
A chemical manufacturing company based in Malaysia is seeking a laboratory technician. This role involves performing resin synthesis, evaluating competitors' products, and ensuring compliance with HSEQ standards. Candidates should have at least 1 year of relevant experience and good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia. The role offers opportunities to work with experienced laboratory staff in a dynamic environment, ensuring effective and safe practices in the R&D laboratory.
Qualifications
- At least 1 year of relevant working experience in a similar capacity.
- Fairly good in spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory scale resin synthesis.
- Evaluate and test competitor’s resins.
- Check and monitor new/existing resins stability.
- Report abnormalities to superior on product and lab equipment.
- Assist with trouble-shooting customer complaints.
- Ensure disposal of chemicals according to HSEQ requirements.
- Maintain good housekeeping of the R&D laboratory.
Skills
Education
- Perform laboratory scale resin synthesis.
- Evaluate and test competitor’s resins for comparison to our range of products or development of countertype, as necessary.
- Check and monitor new/existing resins stability and compatibility as necessary.
- Reporting to Superior on abnormalities pertaining to product, lab equipment and other related activities.
- Assist on trouble‑shooting of customer complaint and off‑specification product.
- Ensure disposal of unwanted chemicals and laboratory waste according to the HSEQ requirements.
- Ensure good housekeeping of the R&D laboratory is maintained always.
- Work closely with other laboratory staff in ensuring all the R&D activities are carried out efficiently and cost effectively.
- Ensure all R&D activities are in compliance with the company’s HSEQ policy and procedure.
- Take reasonable care for health and safety of himself and of other persons, to cooperate with superior, to wear or use personal protective equipment provided as appropriate and to comply health and safety instruction as stipulated under Section 24 OSHA 1994 and undertake the following loss control responsibilities;
- SPM or equivalent with at least 1 year of relevant working experience in a similar capacity.
- Fairly good in spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Computer Literate: Microsoft Words, Excel and Power Point etc.
