Electrical & Electronics Technician
We are seeking a hands‑on and technically competent Electrical & Electronics Technician to support in‑house repairs, workshop operations, and field demonstrations across Malaysia. This role requires a combination of technical repair capability, customer‑facing professionalism, and strong workshop housekeeping discipline. The technician will work closely with the Operations and BDM teams to support equipment demos, testing, and post‑sales technical activities.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Repair & Technical Support (In‑House)
- Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of electrical and electronic systems typically used in subsea, hydrographic, and marine survey equipment.
- Assist with calibration, testing, and quality checks before equipment mobilizations or rentals.
- Maintain proper repair documentation, job sheets, and maintenance logs.
- Support integration and setup of sensors, cables, connectors, and related systems under guidance from senior engineers.
- Conduct preventive maintenance for company's owned equipment according to internal protocols.
Field Support & Demonstrations
- Travel with the company's BDM across Malaysia to conduct equipment demos, basic setup, testing, and customer support.
- Assist in installation, mobilisation and site preparation for short demo trials and customer presentations.
- Provide professional technical assistance and represent company's technical competency during customer engagements.
- Able to load, unload, and handle equipment safely during demos and site work.
Workshop Operations & Housekeeping
- Maintain the company's workshop in a clean, organised, and safe condition at all times.
- Ensure tools, instruments, and test equipment are properly stored, labelled, calibrated, and accounted for.
- Update workshop safety notices, asset tags, and maintenance schedules.
- Support packing, unpacking, and storage of incoming and outgoing equipment.
Stock Take & Inventory Management
- Perform monthly inventory checks of spares, cables, tools, connectors, and consumables.
- Update inventory sheets and coordinate with procurement for replenishment needs.
- Track movement of equipment between JB, KL (if any), and Singapore HQ to ensure accountability.
- Assist in maintaining the asset register and service records.
Requirements
- Education & Technical Skills
- Diploma/Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related field.
- Hands‑on experience with wiring, soldering, electronics troubleshooting, and using test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.).
- Basic mechanical aptitude is a plus (simple assembly, tools handling).
- Ability to read basic circuit diagrams and understand fault‑finding processes.
Experience
- 1–3 years of relevant technical experience (workshop, equipment repair, marine/offshore, industrial electronics, or similar).
- Fresh graduates with strong hands‑on ability will be considered.
- Experience in marine, survey, subsea, or instrumentation industries is an added advantage.
Personal Competencies
- Willing to travel within Malaysia (approx. 20–40% depending on demo activity).
- Physically able to handle equipment, cases, and workshop tasks.
- Strong housekeeping discipline and attention to detail.
- Confident, professional and able to support the BDM in customer‑facing situations.
- Responsible, trustworthy, punctual, and able to work independently at the JB workshop.
