• Kulliyyah (Faculty): Kulliyyah of Sustainable Tourism and Contemporary Language
• Location: Pagoh Campus, Johor

The officer shall be a member of the staff of the Kulliyyah/Centre/Department to which he is assigned by the IIUM and shall perform teaching, examining, and research duties and other obligations normally required of an academic staff member of the IIUM. The officer should also undertake moral and religious obligations with colleagues and students as part of his duties. He shall attend meetings of IIUM authorities, boards, and committees to which he is appointed, participate in the general life of the IIUM community, and advise and guide students on character, behaviour, and moral conduct. In short, he is not only a teacher (Mu'allim), a scholar ('Alim) but also a moral educator (Murabbi).

• Preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, workshops, and seminars.
• Developing curricula and course material that can be used across a number of platforms.
• Collaborating with other academics and lecturers to improve teaching methods and expand knowledge base.
• Setting and grading assignments, tests, and exams.
• Conducting research and writing papers, proposals, journal articles, and books.
• Attending and participating in meetings, conferences, and other events within and outside the institution.
• Participating in training opportunities and initiatives at the institution.
• Providing support to students and other colleagues.
• Staying current by reading widely and producing published work in the field.

• Candidates must possess a PhD in Linguistics/Applied Linguistics or any relevant field.
• Previous teaching experience would be advantageous.
• Published work, with a minimum of two publications, in the field of Arabic for Specific Purposes, Linguistics, and Applied Linguistics.

• Ability to inspire students with passion.
• Flexibility, resilience, and willingness to work long hours.
• Strong interpersonal, presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to teach Phonology (العلم الأصوات) would be advantageous.

• Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language (including oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level OR equivalent qualification recognized by the Government (for Malaysian citizens).
• IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band 4.
• Candidate without any of these qualifications will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
