Purpose of the role: Working with the Senior Managers and Executive Management Team, you will be responsible for leading the security team on a particular shift.

You will execute all safety and security tasks and initiatives, in line with legislation and Cape Grace policies, to ensure a safe and secure environment for all stakeholders.

Levels of accountability: Reports directly to the Security Manager. Lead the Security Team by fostering teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect, and employee satisfaction.

Monitor and develop team member performance, including supervision, professional development, scheduling, counseling, evaluations, and recognition.

Train team members in line with company policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

1. Customer Service: Liaise with V&A Security and local law enforcement. Maintain effective relationships with staff, suppliers, customers, and stakeholders. Ensure staff and contractors act to protect the positive image of Cape Grace. Manage guest interactions to meet Cape Grace standards.
2. Security: Lead security functions to safeguard guests, staff, visitors, and the facility. Oversee daily workflow, schedules, and shift assignments. Conduct training on workplace searches, drug and alcohol procedures, and related topics. Manage the security team, including contracted staff. Ensure compliance with key management procedures. Assist with Business Continuity Plans. Conduct investigations and prepare related reports. Ensure staff are trained, supported, and monitored, taking corrective actions when necessary.
3. Health and Safety: Act as Section 8.2 appointee reporting to the 16.2 Appointee. Respond to emergencies, including safety hazards, fires, medical emergencies, and threats. Oversee reports and documentation. Conduct risk assessments, H&S inspections, and manage fire safety and emergency equipment. Keep up-to-date with H&S legislation and advise the Executive Team. Ensure staff are trained and compliant with policies.

• Matric / Grade 12
• PSIRA Grade B qualification
• Emergency Coordinators certificate, Basic first aid, firefighting, fire marshal, and SHE training are advantageous.
• Minimum of 5 years security experience in the 5-star hospitality and tourism industry preferred.
• Experience in incident investigation (Security and H&S).
• Knowledge of safety practices, CCTV systems, Saflok, Maestro, Remrad, Ziton Fire panels, Panic and intruder alarm systems.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite; knowledge of Opera is a plus.
