Job summary
A leading safety solutions provider in South Africa is looking for a SHE officer to identify and evaluate hazards and implement safety measures. Candidates should have a National Diploma in Health and Safety and be registered with SACPCMP. Experience in construction safety and certifications like SAMTRAC or NEBOSH are essential. A valid driver's license is also required, with preference given to those with renewable energy experience. The role focuses on ensuring a safe working environment.
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience within a SHE Officer position.
- Certification in SAMTRAC or NEBOSH required.
- Drivers' License is essential.
Responsibilities
- Identify, review, and evaluate hazards within the work environment.
- Implement controls and preventive measures to prevent injuries.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Skills
Education
The SHE officer identifies, reviews and evaluates hazards within the work environment; implements the controls and the preventive measures; and prevents injuries resulting from environmental factors.
- National Diploma Health and Safety or equivalent
- Registered with SACPCMP as a Health and Safety Officer (Proof of Registration is required).
- 5 Years of experience within a SHE Officer position within Construction / a Senior Safety Candidate officer close to qualifying as a Safety officer.
- SAMTRAC, NEBOSCH or equivalent certification.
- Knowledge of the National Environmental Act; Occupational Health and Safety Act, National Traffic Act.
- Municipal by-laws and company policies and procedures that will need to be followed.
- Knowledge of construction processes, equipment, materials and products.
- Understanding and implementing ISO 9000, 14000 and OHSAS 18001.
- Drivers’ License essential.
- Renewable energy experience preferred.
