Job Description

We are hiring a Team Leader within the Elite business unit at Old Mutual Insure. The role reports to the Elite: National Underwriting Manager and is based at our Johannesburg Head Office.

Job Purpose

Maintain relationships with business partners to promote, sell, and convert Elite’s products, including service and underwriting initiatives, to achieve profitability and growth targets. Manage a team of underwriters responsible for quotations, new business, and increasing Elite policies.

Critical Objectives and Responsibilities
  • Understand the high net-worth market and find solutions to risk challenges.
  • Communicate effectively with intermediaries and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with senior management and support profit and growth targets.
  • Consult with stakeholders to resolve underwriting and claims challenges.
  • Maintain high service levels and client satisfaction.
  • Manage risk, monitor profitability, and ensure data accuracy.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and ensure governance adherence.
  • Develop team skills and foster a high-performance culture.
Experience, Knowledge & Skills Required
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in general insurance (NQF Level 7).
  • 5-8 years’ experience in personal lines underwriting.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in high net-worth underwriting and/or claims (recommended).
  • Experience in Old Mutual Insure (recommended).
