A leading third-party service provider within the construction and renewable energy sector is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Safety Officer for an upcoming wind farm project based in Jeffreys Bay. This is an excellent opportunity for a health and safety professional who is passionate about contributing to sustainable energy infrastructure and has prior experience in high-risk environments.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations on-site, enforcing safety policies, and promoting a culture of safety across all project phases. This role requires strong attention to detail, proactive risk management, and experience in working on renewable energy or wind farm sites.
Key Responsibilities include:
Implement and monitor compliance with the site-specific Health and Safety Management Plan.
Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits.
Report and investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformances.
Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and safety training to workers and subcontractors.
Maintain all statutory HSE documentation and reporting requirements.
Liaise with contractors, site management, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with safety objectives.
Promote and enforce the use of PPE and safe working procedures at all times.
Qualifications & Certifications:
Minimum: National Diploma in Safety Management or a relevant equivalent.
Valid SACPCMP Registration (Safety Officer category) – Compulsory.
Additional certifications in First Aid, Fall Protection, and Working at Heights are advantageous.
Experience Required:
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a Safety Officer role, preferably within the construction or renewable energy industry.
Wind farm experience is highly advantageous – including working on turbine installations, heavy lifts, or high-risk construction environments.
Strong knowledge of South African OHS legislation and construction regulations.
Experience working with large teams, subcontractors, and enforcing compliance on multi-phase projects.
