ABOUT WESSELS:

The South Africa Manganese operation is located in the manganese-rich Kalahari Basin, in the Northern Cape, which is home to 80 percent of the world's manganese. This position is based at our Wessels Mine, one of the largest manganese reserves in South Africa.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This is a permanent, full-time position.

As a Supervisor Operations (Shift Boss), you will be responsible for supervising the safe and efficient execution of mining operations.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Supervising personnel reporting directly to you in a production section, including managing their time and discipline in the workplace;
2. Achieving monthly targets;
3. Initiating and coordinating production planning sessions with other mine departments;
4. Managing feedback and execution of planning to ensure production of quality ore at specified volumes;
5. Developing and implementing continuous improvement techniques to enhance production functionality.

ABOUT YOU:

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

1. Minimum 3 years’ experience in trackless or underground mining and at least 5 years’ supervisory experience;
2. Drill & Blast and Development experience is advantageous.

Qualifications for this role include:

1. Grade 12 with mathematics;
2. Supervisor Certificate of Competency (advantageous);
3. Valid underground blasting certificate for Metalliferous Mines;
4. Valid driver’s license.
