Overview
A well-established global transport and Logistics provider is looking for an HR Officer to provide comprehensive HR support across its divisions, covering recruitment and selection, payroll and HR administration, training and development, performance management, talent management, and employee relations including CCMA representation. Operating in a fast-paced and professional environment, the role ensures compliance with labour legislation, accurate HR processes, and effective partnering with managers and staff to drive people development, employee engagement, and organisational success.
Salary: R50 000 – R60 000 per month CTC.
Responsibilities
- Recruitment & Selection
- Advertise vacancies on internal career portals and recruitment systems.
- Compile questionnaires and upload onto systems before advertising.
- Screen applicants for suitability.
- Prepare and present shortlists to relevant managers.
- Arrange interviews and conduct them alongside managers.
- Perform necessary credit and criminal checks.
- Make recommendations on suitable candidates.
- Compile employment contracts and starter packs for new appointments.
- Ensure complete and signed application and salary advice documentation before processing.
- Payroll Administration
- Capture all new employees on SAGE 300 People.
- Create new posts and ensure all employee information is accurate and up to date.
- Upload all employee documentation on SAGE 300 People.
- Professionally maintain the HR and payroll system.
- HR Administration
- Complete salary advice forms for departments.
- Prepare promotion, increase, job title, and grade change letters.
- Open and maintain personnel files with all required documentation.
- Ensure confirmation of employment letters are issued.
- Assist with annual Employment Equity reporting.
- Prepare and provide HR reports as required.
- Complete UI-19 documents for terminated employees.
- Administer staff and study loans.
- Facilitate staff transfers with appropriate documentation.
- Assess exit interview content and escalate issues.
- Retirement Fund
- Maintain terminated employee files and process withdrawals from the retirement fund.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of termination documentation.
- Keep updated knowledge of fund policies and advise management of changes.
- Medical Aid
- Ensure new employees are registered with the medical aid scheme.
- Send medical aid documentation to relevant employees upon appointment.
- Notify payroll of new medical aid members.
- Attend to queries and ensure timely processing.
- Industrial Relations
- Provide advisory services to staff and management on IR matters.
- Ensure compliance with IR policy.
- Assist with disciplinary charges and preparation.
- Attend and provide guidance during disciplinary hearings, appeals, and grievances.
- Communicate areas of concern or conflict to management.
- General
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of labour legislation, developments, and case law.
- Compile HR policies and procedures as required.
- Support with HR communications such as HR Directs and newsletters.
- Actively participate in Employment Equity and Training Committees.
- Maintain professionalism in all HR dealings and ensure no audit findings.
Qualifications
- Minimum Requirements:
- Matric (Grade 12) (Essential)
- Relevant B Degree in Industrial Psychology, Psychology, or Human Resources (essential)
- Honours qualification advantageous
- At least 5 years’ HR-related experience
- Full HR generalist experience including Industrial Relations
- Knowledge of HR Administration, Recruitment & Selection, Training & Development, Performance Management, Talent Management, and Employee Relations (including CCMA representation)
- Computer literacy: (Essential)
- Intermediate–Advanced MS Office
- SAGE 300 People (Employee Management, Job Profile Management, Personnel Management, Report writing – essential)
- Online recruitment platforms (e.g., PNet, LinkedIn)
- Background check systems (e.g., MIE, Lexis Nexis)
- Strong interview and administration skills
- Knowledge of job grading principles
