Job summary
A prominent book retailer in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Buyer / Merchandising Executive to manage sourcing and ordering of anime comics and novels. The ideal candidate will be responsible for promotional planning and liaising with suppliers, requiring strong Mandarin proficiency and good knowledge of market trends. The role involves a dynamic work environment, requiring a fast response to tasks and a proactive approach in managing stock and promotions during events.
Qualifications
- 2 years of working experience or a relevant academic qualification.
- Interest in book reading, especially in anime.
- Fast response to daily requests and ability to meet deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Source and order anime comics and novels.
- Conduct market surveys and competitor analysis.
- Plan promotions for nationwide events and in-store activities.

Responsible for sourcing and ordering of anime comic & novel
Daily review and restock, handle customer order from internal and external customer
Promotion planning and stock preparation for nationwide promotion / in store LSM / bookfair & special event
Liaise with suppliers on promotional activities and prompt delivery of stocks.
Negotiate with vendors regarding terms, conditions and margins to create competitive edge
Analyze performance of stock and promotions to determine effectiveness of the product assortment and promotion strategy to drive market share
Work closely with Sales & Marketing Department, assist to plan promotional activities merchandise according to line master plans
Work closely with the stores and vendors on all replenishment activities, product range, promotions mechanics, pricing, and aging stocks
To conduct market survey & visit competitors constantly for current market trend analysis and customer preferences
Assist in the setting up of new stores and major fairs/ events
Outlet visit and market research, travelling to outstation and operational support if any
Fully in-charge and planning for anime pavilion at KLCC bookfest, on site duty for full period
- SPM graduates with 2 years working experience/ Diploma Holder/ Degree holder in any discipline
- Fresh graduates are welcome to apply
- Required language(s): Mandarin is a must due to the need to deal with Mandarin-speaking suppliers. Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and English is also required.
- Interest on book reading, especially anime will be advantages
- Fast in response on daily request and complete task within dateline
- Able to work in fast pace environment & within tight timelines when required
- Basic knowledge on excel and able to maintain all necessary data accurately
- Initiative and able to work with minimal guidance for daily task
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Preferably candidates with own transport for travelling
