The Cargo Branch Manager is responsible for overseeing all cargo operations at the KLIA branch, ensuring efficient, safe, compliant, and profitable handling of air cargo. This role leads the operations, sales coordination, compliance, and financial performance of the cargo branch while maintaining strong relationships with airlines, agents, customs, and airport authorities.
Key Responsibilities
- 1. Operations Management
- Oversee daily air cargo operations (import, export, transshipment) at KLIA
- Ensure cargo handling complies with IATA, ICAO, DGR, CAAM, and airport regulations
- Monitor warehouse performance, capacity utilization, and turnaround time
- Ensure proper handling of special cargo (DG, perishables, live animals, pharma, valuables)
- Manage service disruptions and resolve operational issues promptly
- Well-verse in DG Handling/Certification will be a plus point
- 2. Compliance & Safety
- Ensure full compliance with aviation security, customs, and safety standards
- Maintain SOPs and ensure staff adherence
- Liaise with CAAM, Customs, MAHB, airlines, and regulatory bodies
- Conduct audits, inspections, and corrective actions
- Manage branch budget, cost control, and profitability
- Monitor revenue, operational costs, and KPIs
- Support sales team with pricing, contracts, and customer negotiations
- Identify growth opportunities and improve cargo volumes
- 4. People Management
- Lead, coach, and develop operations, warehouse, and admin teams
- Workforce planning, rostering, and performance management
- Ensure training compliance (DGR, security, safety, SOPs)
- Foster a safety-first and performance-driven culture
- Maintain strong relationships with airlines, freight forwarders, agents, and key customers
- Handle escalations, service recovery, and customer satisfaction issues
- Coordinate with head office and other branches for network efficiency
- 6. Reporting & Administration
- Prepare operational, financial, and performance reports
- Ensure accurate documentation and system data integrity

- Cargo throughput & on-time performance
- Cost control and branch profitability
- Staff productivity and safety records
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Aviation Management, Supply Chain, or related field
- Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years in air cargo or logistics operations
- At least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role
- Experience operating at KLIA or major international airport preferred
- Strong knowledge of air cargo operations & regulations
- Leadership and people management skills
- Financial and commercial awareness
- Problem-solving and decision-making ability
- Strong communication and stakeholder management
- Proficiency in cargo systems (Sys Freight/Cargowise/Freightos)
- Managing overseas networks – Business / Providing Quotes
- Working Conditions
- Based at KLIA
- Travelling to HQ – Subang for weekly meeting
