A manufacturing firm in Malaysia seeks a Safety Officer responsible for developing and implementing safety policies, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with local regulations. The ideal candidate should have a diploma in safety or environmental engineering with at least 3 years of EHS management experience in a large-scale facility. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong communication skills in English and Mandarin are required. This role is crucial for maintaining workplace safety and protecting employee health.
Develop and implement factory safety policies, ensuring proper operation and parking of forklifts, cranes, and other transport equipment.
Implement the organization's health and safety policy and procedures so that all employees have a safe and healthy working environment and the organization complies with all current and future regulations and laws.
Conduct safety audits and on-site inspections to identify workplace hazards and unsafe equipment, working practices, or working conditions.
Monitor environmental emissions (water, air, noise, solid waste), ensuring compliance with Malaysian DOE regulations.
Coordinate with external environmental agencies, submit regulatory reports, and track corrective actions.
Conduct safety and environmental training for staff (onboarding and refresher courses).
Maintain and analyze safety and environmental data (incidents, violations, waste metrics), and report to management.
Investigate accidents, complete or verify accident reports, and liaise with technical specialists and external health and safety authorities to identify the causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence.
Participate in risk assessments and approvals for new equipment installations or plant expansions.
Recommend changes to working processes and conditions to ensure that all employees have a safe and healthy working environment and that the organisation complies with all current and future regulations and laws, and the organisation's safety policies and standards.
Educate and train the organization's workforce on health and safety to ensure that they understand and comply with the organization's health and safety policies and standards.
Select, train, and evaluate designated workplace safety or first aid officers to ensure that they understand and can perform the responsibilities of their role.
Ensure that first aid supplies and resources are available in accordance with regulations and the organization's health and safety policies.

Diploma or above in Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering or relevant field.
At least 3 years of EHS management experience in large-scale manufacturing or metal-processing plant.
Familiar with Malaysian OSHA (Act 514), DOE environmental regulations, and local authority requirements.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PPT) with analytical skills.
Possession of (or able to obtain) OSHA 30-hour safety training certificate; HSE Officer certification is a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Mandarin. We are seeking candidates proficient in Mandarin to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients.
