JOB PURPOSE
The Head, Industrial plays a critical leadership role in driving UEM Sunrise’s industrial property development and management. This position oversees project delivery, ensures financial viability, and aligns developments with evolving market needs. A key focus is the delivery of high-quality industrial properties, especially built-to-suit facilities, while fostering strong client relationships and contributing to the company’s growth within the industrial sector. The role demands strategic oversight across project execution, construction management, portfolio optimization, and team leadership—ensuring timely, budget-compliant project delivery aligned with UEM Sunrise’s broader organizational goals.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Project Oversight:
• Design and devise industrial property solutions (mainly built-to-suit facilities) tailored to client requirements, assessing financial viability and securing internal and client approvals.
• Ensure all developments align with UEM Sunrise’s strategic goals and market demands.
Construction Management:
• Oversee and monitor ongoing construction projects to ensure timely delivery and adherence to budget.
• Resolve issues efficiently during construction to minimize delays and cost overruns.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, environmental guidelines, and safety standards.
• Liaise with authorities to obtain necessary permits and secure timely approvals.
Client Relationship Management:
• Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships, ensuring needs are understood and met from development through post-completion.
• Serve as the main point of contact, managing expectations and delivering high-quality service.
Strategic Leadership:
• Contribute to the formulation and implementation of the industrial property strategy.
• Identify market trends and growth opportunities to position UEM Sunrise as a sector leader.
• Incorporate sustainability into design and construction, supporting ESG commitments.
• Drive green building initiatives and explore renewable energy and infrastructure efficiency.
• Develop and execute the Industrial Division’s long-term strategy aligned with U2030, focusing on economic diversification, sustainable growth, and competitiveness.
Performance Management:
• Define and monitor KPIs for industrial property projects and portfolio performance.
• Ensure achievement of performance targets, profitability, and client satisfaction.
Team Leadership:
• Lead, mentor, and develop a professional team in a collaborative environment.
• Ensure alignment with organizational goals and maintain team motivation.
Asset Management:
• Oversee the industrial property portfolio, ensuring operational efficiency and value optimization.
• Implement strategies to maximize asset value and performance.
Strategic Leadership:
• Formulate and execute a long-term strategy in line with U2030, focused on sustainable development, tech advancement, and competitiveness.
Portfolio Growth & Optimization:
• Drive development and optimization of industrial parks and projects to maximize commercial value, societal impact, and environmental sustainability.
Market Intelligence and Benchmarking:
• Monitor global industrial trends, tech developments, and regulations to ensure competitiveness and future-readiness.
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Formal Education:
• A degree in Engineering, Architecture, Urban Planning, or a related field (postgraduate qualification is a plus).
Work Experience:
• 15–20 years in industrial property development and management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven experience in delivering built-to-suit industrial facilities, large-scale construction oversight, and client relationship management.
Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:
• Strong technical knowledge of construction, project management, and industrial property financials.
• Demonstrated leadership, client relationship skills, and market insight.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Strategic and problem-solving capabilities for complex challenges.
