Quality Control And Laboratory Manager
Job summary
A leading food manufacturing company is seeking a QC & Laboratory Manager to oversee product safety and quality within their laboratory. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in food manufacturing quality control, including strong leadership capabilities. Responsibilities include developing quality control procedures, supervising laboratory activities, and promoting continuous improvement in testing protocols. The role requires a degree in a related field and substantial experience in a QC environment. This position is located in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
Qualifications
- 5 to 8 years of QC or laboratory experience in food manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of quality control tools.
- Proficiency in data analysis and statistical methods.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain quality control procedures in compliance with requirements.
- Ensure laboratory participation in proficiency testing.
- Oversee testing and release of raw and packaged materials.

The QC & Laboratory Manager is responsible for ensuring the product safety, quality, and compliance of food products through effective management of the Quality Control laboratory. This role involves developing and implementing quality control systems, supervising laboratory activities, and driving continuous improvement in testing protocols and product release processes.

Reporting to: Food Safety & Quality Manager
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures in compliance with food safety and quality requirements.
- Ensure laboratory participation in periodic proficiency testing program.
- Ensure method validation is carried out and Statistical Process Control (SPC) is utilized.
- Oversee chemical and physical testing and release of raw and primary packaging materials, in-process samples, and finished goods, while upholding GMP, HACCP, FSSC 22000.
- Ensure accurate and timely analysis and release of raw and primary packaging materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
- Ensure lab instruments are calibrated, maintained, and adhere to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Oversee sample collection, product quality testing, and documentation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all quality control activities, including test results, audits, and corrective actions, ensuring full traceability of products.
- Track quality metrics and prepare reports, presentations, operational documents, and other communications containing descriptive, analytical, and evaluative content related to Quality Control activities and arrive at sound conclusions.
- Support in non-conformities and deviations investigation and implement corrective actions.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Identifying areas for improvement in testing protocols and product release processes.
- Promoting a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the organization.
- Lead daily laboratory operations and supervise a team of QC Personnel.
- Providing training and development opportunities for team members.
- Fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Microbiology, or related disciplines.
- 5 to 8 years of QC or laboratory experience in food manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of quality control tools such as SPC, laboratory management and ISO 17025.
- Proficiency in data analysis and statistical methods.
- Proficient in analytical techniques, food microbiology, and quality systems. Learn and effectively utilized specialized knowledge to improve Quality Control and Laboratory Standard at site.
