Job summary
A leading glass manufacturing company in Penang is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to innovate and optimize production processes. The role involves managing quality improvements and ensuring the stability and efficiency of manufacturing systems. Candidates should have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in glass/optics manufacturing. Familiarity with Dicing machinery, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing are highly valued. Good command of English and/or Bahasa Malaysia is required, along with project management skills.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience with Dicing machinery setup, installation, and commissioning.
- Good verbal and written command of English and/or Bahasa Malaysia.
- Project Management experience is an added advantage.
Responsibilities
- Innovate, develop, simulate, and optimize manufacturing processes.
- Conduct continuous quality improvements for products and processes.
- Manage and revise work instructions and process control plans.

- To innovate, re-engineer / develop, simulate and optimize processes and systems to best suit the manufacturing of a product
- To conduct continuous quality improvements (dimensional & functional) for product and processes
- To optimize glass production processes with 5M approach
- To adhere to customer’s product quality requirements and achieve a stable and high yielding process for sustainability
- Perform cost down initiatives and value engineering in order to establish a cost effective production process
- Perform statistical and technical analysis on production failures and improve production capability.
- To manage and revise work instructions and process control plan on a timely basis
- To improve process efficiency & cost through minor/major automation & IT initiatives.
- Responsible for the overall stability of the processes and take necessary steps to eradicate deviations
- Practice continuous improvement (7 wastes elimination) as a daily culture at the workplace
- Attend to any other work/project assigned to you by your superior(s) from time to time.
- Adhere to all company Rules & Regulations including prescribed dept. work ethics and procedures
- Formal Education and Training: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Occupational Experience: Experience in Dicing (precision sawing) machinery (Accertech/ Disco/ Simac…etc) Experience in such machinery setup, installation, commissioning & product qualification; 3-5 years related working experience, with MNC
- Additional Knowledge Requirements: Experienced in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, CAD/CAM (NX Siemens/Solid Works/Autocad…etc). Good verbal & written command of English and/or Bahasa Malaysia. Project Management an added advantage. Experience in glass/optics manufacturing a definite advantage
