Job summary
A leading construction firm in Malaysia is seeking a bilingual translation and interpretation specialist to facilitate project communication and document translation. The ideal candidate should be proficient in Chinese, English, and Malay, with a strong background in construction or engineering. Responsibilities include translating technical documents, assisting project teams, and providing interpretation during meetings. This position may require travel to project sites, ensuring alignment with industry-specific standards.
Qualifications
- SPM or above in languages, translation, or construction engineering.
- Proficient in Chinese, English, and Malay.
- Prior experience in construction or engineering is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Translate construction-related documents and plans.
- Provide interpretation during project meetings.
- Assist with communication involving foreign clients and contractors.
- Draft and edit bilingual reports and correspondence.
- Support international collaboration projects.
Skills
Education
Translate various construction-related documents, including but not limited to drawings, technical specifications, tender documents, contracts, meeting minutes, and construction plans.
Provide consecutive or simultaneous interpretation during project meetings, ensuring accurate and smooth communication among multilingual stakeholders.
Assist project teams with daily communication and coordination involving foreign clients, contractors, consultants, and designers.
Draft and edit bilingual reports, emails, and other project-related correspondence.
Support international collaboration projects and ensure translations meet industry-specific technical and contextual standards.
Perform other translation and interpretation tasks assigned by the supervisor.
- Translate various construction-related documents, including but not limited to drawings, technical specifications, tender documents, contracts, meeting minutes, and construction plans.

- Proficiency in Chinese, English, and Malay; strong skills in both written translation and oral interpretation.
- Chinese candidates are preferred due to the need to handle extensive Chinese documents and communication.
- Prior experience in the construction or engineering industry is highly preferred.
- Familiar with industry terminology and capable of conveying technical concepts accurately.
- Detail-oriented, responsible, and able to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
- Willing to travel or be stationed at project sites when required.
