Job description

Join a leading Japanese construction company with a strong track record in high-quality building and infrastructure projects across Malaysia and the region. We are seeking a proactive Planning Engineer to be based at our Kuala Lumpur office, supporting projects from tender through mobilization and early execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end planning for tenders: develop preliminary schedules, methodologies, narratives, resource/loading plans, and risk registers
  • Prepare, review, and update baseline schedules (WBS, critical path, milestones) and planning deliverables for awarded projects
  • Coordinate with estimating, engineering, procurement, and site teams to align programs with construction methodology and constraints
  • Develop lookahead programs and mobilization plans; support site setup readiness
  • Monitor early execution progress; track KPIs, constraints, and risks; recommend recovery/mitigation actions
  • Produce planning reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal and client stakeholders
  • Provide planning inputs for contract administration, including time impact analysis and EOT support
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of planning standards, templates, and procedures
Requirements and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering preferred (or related)
  • Approximately 2+ years of construction site experience preferred (building or infrastructure)
  • Proficiency in MS Project and Primavera 6 (basic requirement)
  • Solid understanding of construction sequencing and methodologies
  • Ability to prepare baseline schedules, recovery plans, and progress tracking
  • Familiarity with manpower productivity and procurement coordinationCapable of generating weekly and monthly planning reports
  • Knowledge of standard contracts (FIDIC, PAM, IEM) — advantage
  • Experience in delay analysis and EOT substantiation
  • Knowledge of BIM/CAD/ACC — additional advantage
  • Strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills; detail-oriented and deadline-driven
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint); Power BI exposure is a plus
  • Willing to visit project sites as needed

Work Location
