Summary
The Senior Manager ERP Assurance leads a global team of IT assurance experts responsible for designing and assessing the efficiency of IT Application Controls across the company’s IT landscape. This key role involves engagement with senior stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external.
About The Role
Key Responsibilities:
- Co-design, improve, and drive the efficiency and effectiveness of Novartis' IT controls landscape. Serve as an experienced ERP assurance professional and advisor.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Financial Controls and Compliance Team to review critical IT Application Controls relevant to financial reporting.
- Provide assurance on ERP systems (e.g., SAP and others), identify process and IT controls improvement opportunities, and drive their implementation.
- Test IT application controls—reports, interfaces, fully automated controls—to ensure SOX compliance and reliability.
- Conduct process risk assessments considering risks from the IT environment, application systems, data warehouses, and IT infrastructure.
- Work with IT Application Owners and Business Process Owners to identify SOX-relevant IT applications and infrastructures, and evaluate controls during new system implementations.
- Advise on internal controls structure by understanding end-to-end processes, IT environment, and data context to determine the right mix of preventive and detective controls, leveraging automation and data analytics.
- Lead a team of IT assurance experts across multiple locations; provide guidance, coaching, and development for junior team members. Collaborate with external auditors and internal stakeholders at all levels.
Essential Requirements
- University degree in economics, business informatics, or computer science, with a minimum of 10+ years' experience in IT Audit or Internal Controls, preferably with Big 4 firms.
- Extensive experience auditing ERP systems, focusing on application controls (preferably SAP), IT environments, and automated business process controls.
- Experience managing IT assurance or audit engagements and teams, with a solid understanding of external audit methodologies.

- Ability to lead teams across multiple locations and time zones.
- Strong stakeholder management skills; effective communication with technical and business contacts.
- Entrepreneurial, structured, results-oriented mindset.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and business writing skills in English. Experience in the pharma industry and shared services is a plus.
