Our client based in the Pietermaritzburg area is seeking an experienced Technical Sales Representative. The ideal candidate should have exceptional communication skills and sales and marketing related qualifications at NQF Level 5 (would be advantageous).

Requirements:

1. Sales & Marketing related qualification at NQF Level 5 or higher would be an advantage.
2. Technical Engineering or Trade qualification or equivalent.
3. 3 - 5 years previous product management or application engineering experience, preferably in the Transmission and Distribution Energy market or 10 years’ experience in a similar position in lieu of education.
4. Experience in Microsoft software.
5. Working knowledge of Syspro would be an advantage.
6. Must be a self-starter who can function in a business environment.
7. Project Management skills will be an advantage.
8. Must possess a valid driver's license with no endorsements.
9. Ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written situations involving customers, internal personnel, and field sales service representatives.
10. Strong planning and organisational skills along with technical knowledge of electrical distribution equipment.

Responsibilities:

1. Support and develop marketing and product plans.
2. Assist with the new product launch process, including developing collateral materials, coordinating field trials, facilitating customer standardisation, and coordinating sales training.
3. Develop key customer relationships.
4. Service requirements of the customer base assigned to the representative, including preparation of offers, quotations, tenders, and support interface with the factory.
5. Analyse competitive products.
6. Initiate Engineering Change Requests.
7. Identify cost reductions/profit improvement opportunities.
8. Stay abreast of the latest product technologies and innovations.
9. Support and resolve customer complaints.
10. Initiate modifications to existing products to meet changing requirements.
11. Participate in and coordinate field activities (inspections, product installations, customer training, etc.).
12. Assist sales correspondence in developing product recommendations for RFQs.
13. Work closely with the international Transmission Team.
