About The Role
  • The Trade Marketing Manager leads a team of professionals to deliver integrated trade marketing and shopper activation strategies. This role ensures that brand and commercial objectives are executed effectively at the point of purchase, driving shopper engagement, category growth, Channel Growth and sustainable profitability. The position is accountable for team development, cross‑functional collaboration, and embedding Fonterra values while delivering best‑in‑class activation and merchandising solutions across all channels.
Key Responsibilities
Channel Strategy & Revenue Growth
  • Develop and implement trade marketing strategies for General Trade and Modern Trade channels to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
  • Leverage market insights and shopper trends to identify growth opportunities and close performance gaps.
  • Ensure alignment of trade programmes with overall business objectives and brand positioning.
  • Monitor and evaluate channel performance, adjusting strategies to optimise ROI.
Shopper Activation Planning & Execution
  • Design and execute shopper activation programmes that influence purchase decisions and enhance brand visibility at the point of sale.
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to integrate shopper insights into activation plans.
  • Manage end‑to‑end activation calendar, ensuring timely deployment and flawless execution.
  • Evaluate activation effectiveness through post‑campaign analysis and shopper feedback.
Customer & Shopper Engagement
  • Collaborate with Key Account and Field Sales teams to design and execute customer programmes that enhance shopper experience.
  • Support Joint Business Planning with retailers through provision of category insights and channel growth strategies working with Commercial Strategy Manager.
  • Develop compelling selling stories and activation plans to strengthen retailer partnerships.
Merchandising & POSM Excellence
  • Establish merchandising standards and POSM guidelines to ensure consistent brand representation.
  • Develop thematic POP/POSM materials and deployment plans aligned with marketing campaigns.
  • Implement monitoring systems to track compliance and effectiveness of merchandising initiatives.
About You
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related discipline.
  • At least 3–5 years of trade marketing experience in the FMCG sector, with a demonstrated record of success in channel strategy development, activation and execution.
  • Strong strategic thinking, leadership, communication, negotiation and data analysis abilities.
  • Authentic leadership style with proven team management skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Highly collaborative and effective team player.
