A professional services firm in Durban is seeking an HR Officer to support all Human Resource functions including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and HR administration. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of HR experience, strong knowledge of labor laws, and excellent communication skills. A Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or Business Administration is required.

An opportunity has become available for an HR Officer in the PKF Umhlanga Office

JOB PURPOSE

To provide support for all the Human Resource Functions.

REQUIREMENTS
Recruitment & Onboarding
  • Coordinate end-to-end recruitment processes including development of job descriptions, job advertisement (internal & external), interviews, and candidate selection
  • Facilitate smooth onboarding and orientation for new hires
Employee Relations
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee queries and concerns
  • Promote a positive and inclusive work environment
  • Handle conflict resolution and disciplinary procedures professionally
Performance Management
  • Support managers in conducting performance appraisals
  • Monitor employee development and training needsResponsible for administration and co-ordination of annual Performance Appraisal process
HR Administration
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases
  • Prepare HR reports and documentation as needed
  • Ensure compliance with labour laws and internal policies
  • Provide support for Assurance Quality Management System on Monthly basis
Payroll
  • Provide monthly payroll inputs collation to payroll manager.
  • Leave management
Policy Development
  • Assist in reviewing and updating HR policies and procedures
  • Ensure staff adherence to company policies and ethical standards
JOB SKILLS
  • Strong knowledge of labour laws (Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Employment Equity Act, Labour Relations Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act), and HR best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems (Sage 300 & ESS), and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong Administrative Skills / Attention to detail
EXPERIENCE
  • 5-10 years of HR experience, preferably in a professional services or accounting firm
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field
