Position
Assistant Restaurant Manager
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for jointly managing our busy restaurant outlets and ensuring that every guest receives personalised attention every time.
- Delight guests with trendsetting and innovative products and outstanding service experiences.
- Achieve operational profitability by driving sales targets and managing costs.
- Contribute to the planning of food and beverage menu offerings and promotions.
- Set and maintain food and beverage service standards.
- Conduct regular guest service, menu, sales, and standards training with staff for world-class service.
- Lead and inspire teams; foster teamwork, personal accountability, and staff engagement and retention.
- Oversee staff processes including personal presentation, recruitment, performance, and conduct.
- Oversee daily restaurant operations: bookings, stock ordering and control, restaurant preparation, cleaning and hygiene protocols, service, and cash ups.
- Work across multiple outlets, fulfil F&B duty management shifts, and maintain own transport.
Qualifications
- Matric Certificate, plus a qualification from a recognised South African or International Educational Institution.
- Cape Wine Academy, WSET or Cocktail Bar courses completed.
- At least 3 years' experience in a similar role in a busy, up-market restaurant.
- Experience with technology including Micros / speed point machines and MS 365.
- Track record of leading and managing large teams.
- Flexible to work shifts across multiple outlets; own transport is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, extensive knowledge of food and beverages (including cocktails, wines, and spirits), and a thorough understanding of hotels, competitors, and the city.
- Strong team leadership, financial management, and proven selling skills; ability to work independently and take initiative.
