· 24 hour continuing responsibility for nursing service and the provision of clinical leadership to the nursing team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct and supervise overall operation of nursing at designated area of care.
- Conduct regular ward rounds on patients to plan and organize the activities of the wards/units.
- Work closely with the nursing team, consultants and collaborate with other departments to ensure safe and effective care.
- Responsible for the safety standards of the unit to deliver safe nursing care to patient.
- Ensure the practice of nursing care plans in the delivery of care.
- Ensure proper documentation of patient care.
- Conduct meeting/briefing to staff to ensure smooth running of the assigned unit.
- Ensure adequate staffing for the units.
- Plan work assignments and schedules.
- Arrange and recommend vacation schedules for the staff.
- Counsel staff on personal and work problems.
- Conduct and/or assign orientation for new staff.
- Participate in the supervision of newly qualified staff.
- Responsible for in-service education programs. Assess and provide continuing education needs and requirements of staff relevant to technological developments, changing licensure requirements, standards of practice and revisions in policies and procedures.
- Guide the staff in solving complaints concerning patient, relatives and staff.
- Evaluate the work performance of the staff and recommend for confirmation, incentives or promotion.
- Deploy staff between wards/units supervised to meet day-to-day workload and emergencies.
- Ensure policies and procedures are communicated, understood and correctly applied by the staff.
- Keep up to date with relevant changes in nursing practice.
- Ensure that credentialing relating to procedures, equipment, and supplies are provided to appropriate staff.
- Maintain and update inventory and ensure there is a planned preventive maintenance of biomedical devices and equipment.
- Ensure care of equipment and report any malfunction to Bio-med department.
- Take appropriate action of incidents and develop plan of actions.
- Assist the Chief of Nursing Services in the investigation of incident reporting, suspected infections and patient/doctor complaints and resolved problems or make recommendation for action.
- Provide management/supervisory cover for the Nursing Department when the need arises.
- Generate monthly report and provide ward census to the Chief of Nursing Services.
- Be a member of the Disaster Plan Team. Participate actively and fully committed in activities of the QA, Infection Control, Fire and Safety program.
- Review and inform Chief of Nursing Services regarding nursing unit problems and needs, recommending changes in the policies and procedures.
- Provide justification to the Chief of Nursing Services for equipment purchase and supplies required by the unit.
- Plan and recommend annual unit budget.
- Liaise with admission staff on bed board management.
- Participate in Health Education of the patient and family.
- Practice infection control guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
- For ER Nurse Manager, he/she will assist CMO to manage the mortuary services as according to the hospital, regulatory and ethical requirements.
Education and Requirements:
· State Registered Nurse/Medical Assistant with at least 10 years of experience.
· Minimum 5 years at Supervisory level.
· Post-basic certificate in related specialized area of care required.
· Degree in nursing is an added advantage.
· Valid annual practicing certificate.
Special Demands:
· Good working attitude.
· Possess good leadership, negotiation, communication and interpersonal relationship skills and good judgment. Has good analytical skill to interpret and analyze data and reports.
· Good command of both written and spoken English.
