Role: Science and Maths Teacher

Location: Avonside School, Bristol BS4 5PS

Salary: Up to £45,000.00 per annum (not pro rata) plus a Welcome Bonus of £1,500

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

We are recruiting for a Science and Maths Teacher to join our new Acorn Education School - Avonside School located in Brislington, Bristol, part of Acorn Education.

About the role

As a teacher of Maths, you would be required to plan, deliver and teach lessons for individual students in accordance with the School Curriculum framework and promote an enthusiasm for the subject within our pupils. You would also support the Leadership Team to set a vision and direction for the school, particularly in relation to the continued development of the maths curriculum.

As a teacher of Science, you would be required to plan, deliver and teach lessons for individual students in accordance with the School Curriculum framework and promote an enthusiasm for the subject within our pupils. You would also support the Subject Lead to ensure the continuous improvement of learning in Science and support provision based on an annual planning cycle with clear objectives and targets and a quality improvement plan based on self-evaluation and external benchmarks.

You will be a passionate teacher and a great communicator, as comfortable talking to pupils with autism, learning difficulties, and complex needs as you are with contributing to the school's vision and direction. Our teachers enjoy becoming part of their school's 'family', exploring the potential of the building and environment and getting to know the brilliant pupils in our care. You will enjoy building these caring relationships as well as liaising with fellow professionals, whether they are colleagues in the same school or they work in the pupils' previous educational establishments.

Our New Acorn School - Avonside School in Bristol will have capacity for 72 pupils and is due to open August 2025. The school will be a co-educational provision for pupils with complex needs including SEMH.
