It’s in Nottingham is Nottingham’s city centre business improvement district – (formerly Nottingham BID). It is one of the largest BIDs in the country with over 800 members. They operate as a business-led, not for profit organisation, working to build a better Nottingham. It has an annual income of over £1 million operating with a small team led by Chief Executive, Alex Flint.
By working with member businesses and partners, It’s in Nottingham remains committed to achieving economic growth for Nottingham city centre. Their passion for Nottingham and commitment to supporting and promoting their members will drive economic growth – creating a vibrant city centre which is a destination of choice for businesses, residents, and visitors.
The It’s in Nottingham Board of Directors is responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the organisation, its financial health, probity of its activities and the development of the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in line with its governing document, and legal and regulatory guidelines.
The Board seeks three new Directors to join the Board who will share the vision and be passionate about Nottingham City. Working with an engaged and committed Board, Directors will support a high-performing and talented team to make Nottingham an exciting and thriving city.
The Board seeks Directors who will be collaborative and dynamic leaders with strategic vision, sound commercial and financial acumen, and excellent communication skills to provide support and constructive challenge.
To complement the experiences and skills currently on the Board, they are keen to appoint people who bring a range of experience in one of the following areas:

The term of office is one year, and Directors can stand for re-election each year at the annual AGM.
The time commitment is up to one day per month with time required to attend four full board meetings per year, review of papers and meeting preparation, AGM, strategy away days, undertaking projects, investigation or review of key decisions and supporting events which may involve some evenings.

It’s in Nottingham is a business-led and business-funded organisation in which local businesses vote to invest together to improve their environment. It is funded through a levy charged on business rates and rateable value. Other funds can be utilised by public or private organisations to develop projects that provide additional services or improvements to the area.
It’s In Nottingham is Nottingham City Business Improvement District – (formerly Nottingham BID) formed in 2012, following the merger of the city’s retail and leisure BIDs. They are one of the largest BIDs in the country with over 800 members.
It’s in Nottingham is an independent organisation that enables local businesses to be directly involved in local activities and to work together to improve the city of Nottingham. Every five years a ballot is held by eligible businesses to continue activities and It’s in Nottingham is now in its third term running from 2021 to 2025.
Building upon the success of previous terms, and with the extension of the Nottingham city BID Zone, a new strategy focuses on four key areas – Promoted City, Managed City, Working City, and Independent City – which will help ‘Build a Better Nottingham, together.
It’s in Nottingham is continuously growing and improving by organising events to attract more visitors to the city centre – promoting the city through innovative campaigns, supporting businesses through various programmes, enhancing the streets with initiatives, and fostering connections between member businesses.
In previous terms, they have been the force behind a number of successful initiatives such as Light Night, Restaurant Week, Ay-Up Market and Halloween Festival, to name just a few – all of which have helped to create a vibrant range of experiences for their diverse local community and beyond.
They have also worked hard to ensure Nottingham is a safe and welcoming city centre environment, through projects such as the Street Ambassadors, Street Pastors, Best Bar None, Purple Flag scheme and Grot Spot Cleansing.

Our Vision: Our ambition is to build a better Nottingham by collaborating and supporting some of the upcoming large-scale projects happening in the city to help champion Nottingham as a first-choice city for shopping, leisure, work and study.
Our members: Are the dynamic businesses and organisations in the retail, leisure, office, and education sectors within a defined area of Nottingham city centre – the BID Zone.
