Role Summary
- Responsibilities: You will play a lead role in the ideation, development, and maintenance of cutting-edge software solutions for both internal and external projects at Costello Medical, elevating our technology stack and enabling our Technical Innovation and Development team to deliver unparalleled products and services
- Salary: £50,000 to £55,000 per annum, depending on your previous experience

About the Role
In 2021, Costello Medical launched its own in-house Technical Innovation and Development (TechDev) division with a mission to create and develop innovative products and services to enrich our workforce internally and deliver exceptional value to our clients externally. Blending the power of software development, automation and research, the TechDev team drives forward the application of technology, streamlining client project outcomes and boosting internal efficiencies across the company.
As the team continues to expand in both size and capability, we are seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Developer who will directly contribute to the ideation, development, and maintenance of cutting-edge software solutions that serve both our internal teams and global clientele. You will be at the forefront of driving innovative projects, from conception through to delivery, leveraging your creative flair and innovative ideas to transform our technical framework and spearhead the delivery of unparalleled products and services. You will also have the opportunity to pioneer the exploration and development of AI-driven innovations, further elevating our service offerings and setting new industry standards.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Engaging in every facet of software development: Take a deep dive into the heart of agile software development, applying your expertise from initial design through to final deployment, ensuring seamless transitions at every stage
- Innovating and transforming: Shape the future of technical advancement by crafting groundbreaking features that resonate throughout the entire software lifecycle, setting new benchmarks for excellence and innovation

About You
We are seeking a proactive and ambitious professional who will thrive in a fast-paced environment. You will have the drive and motivation to contribute innovative ideas for the development of our technical service offerings, all whilst supporting with the expansion and strategic direction of the wider TechDev division.
You will relish the opportunity to offer technical and strategic advice to project teams and clients, always maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer service. Not only that, but you will be confident in delivering training to a wide variety of audiences and sharing your knowledge to encourage the adoption of novel software systems and applications across the company.
Exceptional organisational skills will be essential as you navigate a variety of complex projects simultaneously, each with their own competing deadlines. Additionally, you will need a collaborative mindset, willing to offer support and guidance to the rest of the team as needed.
Essential requirements for the role are:
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in backend development with Node.js or any other server-side programming languages (e.g., Golang, Python, Java)
- Proficiency in writing unit and integration tests for backend systems
- A solid understanding of RESTful APIs and web services
- Experience working with PostgreSQL or any other relational database
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
- A good understanding of software development best practices and design patterns
- Strong communication skills, capable of building robust and sustainable working relationships with colleagues and clients
- Previous project management experience, with excellent organisational and time management skills
- A high level of productivity, and the flexibility to respond to changing deadlines in a fast-paced working environment
- The ability to maintain exceptional customer service and quality under multiple competing demands
- A willingness to learn and adapt, continuously challenging yourself to develop new technical skills
- Familiarity with frontend technologies such as Angular, or similar JavaScript frameworks
Desired requirements for the role are:
- Experience with Microservice architecture
- Familiarity with event based streaming systems like RabbitMQ
- Experience with application containerisation using Docker
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes
- A basic understanding of Kubernetes, specifically an awareness of its high-level functioning

The Recruitment Process
Our recruitment process begins with a telephone interview with a member of the Talent Acquisition team, followed by an assessment stage for you to complete in your own time.
