Job description

The world is made up for so many different things from nature to humans to the animal kingdom and beyond. Scientists such as Albert Einstein, Neils Bohr, and Marie Curie have all made staggering contributions to the world around us. Who will be the next? Are you a Science Teacher/Teaching Assistant wanting to make a difference and work with the next generation of biologists and physicists? Then this may be the opportunity you are looking for!

For this role, we are looking for Science Tutor. As a tutor, charisma and personality are just as important as qualifications and teaching, so we need tutors who are willing to go that extra step to engage students and see that progress with each session. We want to transform these young people’s lives, and we can’t do this without you!

The pay for tutoring is £25-£30 per hour. It is desirable for the applicants to hold a full UK driving licence as a selection of the pupils may need to be tutored within their home/at a local library.

Requirements for the role:

  1. Professional Teaching Qualifications are preferred (Qualified Teacher Status, QTS).
  2. A solid grasp of the English Language to convey themselves to students.
  3. A desire to promote and encourage, as well as motivate themselves.
  4. An Enhanced Child Workforce only DBS on the update service, or willingness to purchase one via TP Tutors (support for obtaining one can be provided).
  5. Experience of working with children/young people with SEND, SEMH and other additional needs.
  6. An excellent understanding of the Science curriculum (specialisms in Biology, Chemistry and Physics also accepted).
  7. Professional references from your two most recent employers, totalling 24 months from a 10-year career history.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
