Early Talent Advisor role at Pinsent Masons.
Responsibilities
- Knowledge of local graduate markets and best practice in screening and selection for early talent roles, including vacation placement, internship and Candidate Attorney legal training contract programmes.
- Recruitment contact and liaison for national law faculty contacts, career services and student societies, organising events, placement schemes, recruitment timetable and raising brand awareness.
- Creating and producing attraction activities, including insight events.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to produce marketing material, i.e. website development and induction packs, suitable for each programme.
- Using social media in attraction, recruitment and continued engagement of candidates.
- Planning creation and delivery of the annual vacation placement, internship and Candidate Attorney legal training programmes, ensuring South African jurisdictional regulations and the firm’s strategic goals are met.
- Managing candidates via the firm’s screening and selection platforms from application to assessment centre, organising and facilitating assessment centres for the various Early Talent programmes.
- Screening and shortlisting candidates for assessment centres for all Early Talent programmes delivered in the Johannesburg office.
- Facilitating assessment centres for all Early Talent programmes, using the firm’s recruitment platforms.
- Building and maintaining relationships with senior stakeholders of the South Africa business in relation to early talent strategy.
- Managing the interface between fee earners and legal interns / candidate attorneys to support the ongoing professional and personal development of candidates.
- Supervising interns, allocating work and assisting with workload management.
- Undertaking appraisal and one‑to‑one meetings with interns and Candidate Attorneys.
- Assisting in identifying training needs of interns on an ongoing basis and arranging / developing an appropriate training programme.
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level standard.
- Experience of working in a professional service environment.
- Knowledge of Early Talent recruitment.
- Recruitment and people‑management experience.
- Experience dealing with all levels of staff, including senior stakeholders, in a persuasive and credible manner.
- Ability to interact with candidates at marketing events and assessments, and build relationships.
- Ability to make presentations to candidate groups.
- Excellent listening and problem‑solving skills.
- Solid understanding and experience of using social media in marketing, recruitment and selection.
- Highly organised and skilled at prioritising using tech‑enabled processes for screening and selection.
- Professional, approachable, calm and robust.
- A self‑starter who can work effectively with minimal supervision while enjoying being part of a high‑performing team.
