A leading aviation services provider in South Africa is seeking a candidate to ensure compliance with fire safety legislation and develop fire prevention measures. Responsibilities include conducting audits, site inspections, and training. The ideal candidate should have a valid Matric certificate, relevant diploma, a code C driver's license, and at least 3 years of experience in Fire and Rescue. This position aims to enhance safety measures and stakeholder engagement within the airport environment.
DescriptionKey Performance OutputsThe successful candidate, reporting to the Manager : Airfield Services will be responsible for the following : Ensure compliance to legislative requirements (CAA - Civil Aviation Authority; ICAO - International Civil Aviation Organization and Municipal by laws).
Ensure the buildings comply with legislation, signage, escape routes, fire extinguishers, hose reels; as per SANS - South African National Standards.Analysis of current systems and implementation thereof where required.Ensure regular site visits and inspections with staff.
Conduct training on fire prevention.Develop and maintain a fire prevention plan.Develop and implement a stakeholder auditing system.Conduct SANS audits and building evacuations.Ensure that all fire equipment is serviceable.Produce monthly reports on Fire Prevention status.
Build, support and maintain healthy diverse internal and external relationships.Maintain appropriate levels of interaction with airport stakeholders.Provide fire prevention awareness to UTN users Work closely with Aviation Safety, ARFF Management and Infrastructure asset management to ensure that insurance cover and that risk is mitigated.Technical Skills and ExperienceThe following skills and experience or the equivalent of such, will be required : The successful candidate must have a valid Matric (Grade 12) qualification Relevant Diploma or equivalent, based on the job requirements within the position.
A code C driver's license with driving experience is essential.Detailed knowledge of Airside, Landside and Terminal Operations.Knowledge of applicable legislation, statutory requirements and Standard operating procedures.At least 3 years' experience in Fire and Rescue is essential.Proficiency and knowledge of Microsoft Office packagespetenciesAnalytical Thinking Problem solving CommunicationPlanning and Organizing Conflict ManagementAttention to DetailThis position will be filled in line with ACSA's values and Employment Equity Policy and plan.
Preference will be given to members of designated groups that are under-represented.
The position will also be advertised externally.
Prefernce will be given to canidates from the Northern Cape.Shortlisted candidates will be required to provide proof of their qualifications, NQF level and credits.
