Job description

The Senior Manager will shape and influence key initiatives, facilitate effective communication, and drive operational efficiency across the organisation. This role requires high adaptability, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

POSITION INFO :

Position Overview : The Senior Manager will support the CEO and drive the company's growth and success. The incumbent will have a unique vantage point in the organisation, working closely with the CEO to ensure alignment and execution of strategic priorities.

The responsibilities of the Senior Manager will include, but are not limited to, the following :

Provision of strategic and operational support to the Office of the CEO.

  • Oversee strategic business initiatives, from development through successful execution.
  • Communicate with the Board and Corporate Executive members in decision-making, program management, and initiative implementation.
  • Oversee daily operations of the Office of the CEO, in close collaboration with the Executive Assistant to the CEO.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert, handling inquiries, developing action plans, and assisting with preparing and disseminating communications from the Office of the CEO.
  • Create and maintain systems and processes to streamline operations.
  • Develop and implement policies to ensure effective decision-making and governance.

Project Management

  • Develop and build relationships with all employees for increased efficiency and responsiveness of existing operations, and help define new operational strategies by working with the CEO and other executives on special projects.
  • Oversee and manage key projects and initiatives, ensuring timely execution and delivery.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to drive collaboration and achieve project milestones.

Communication and Liaison

  • Serve as a primary point of contact between the CEO and internal / external stakeholders.
  • Draft and review communication materials, including reports, presentations, speeches, and official correspondence.
  • Manage the effective flow of information within and outside the Office of the CEO.
  • Regular interactions with the parliamentary Officer and the Portfolio Committee Secretariat.

Executive Support

  • Act as a right-hand to the CEO, providing support in meeting preparation, taking notes and assuming responsibility for completing action items.
  • Anticipate the needs and proactively address issues to optimise the CEO's time and focus.
  • Lead and mentor a team of support staff in the CEO's Office.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment within the CEO's Office.
  • Ensure effective utilisation of the financial budget for the Office of the CEO according to the PFMA.

Requirements

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience with at least seven years in a similar role.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of government and parliamentary processes.
  • Understanding of corporate governance systems.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of policy analysis and implementation, PFMA, and other relevant legislation.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and delivering high-quality results under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional organisational and project management skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.
