A chemical manufacturing company in Malaysia is seeking a Facility Manager to lead maintenance, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and optimize operational performance. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and at least 5 years of experience in maintenance management within the chemical or plating industry. Responsibilities include managing vendor relations, developing maintenance strategies, and overseeing regulatory compliance. Strong technical and leadership skills are essential for this role.
Lead the maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of key plant systems: RO/DI water treatment, IETS, scrubbers, cooling towers, and HVAC systems.
Monitor and enhance energy efficiency across TNB and solar power systems.
Supervise the maintenance of CCTV, fire alarm systems, and security infrastructure, managing vendor relationships for upgrades and compliance.
Oversee building upkeep, forklift maintenance, and recycling/waste management programs.
B. Maintenance & Reliability Leadership
Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for all production and facility equipment.
Manage breakdown response, vendor coordination, and root cause analysis to minimize downtime.
Authorize and process Purchase Requisitions (PRs) for repairs, spares, and new equipment, ensuring cost control and budget adherence.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, cost tracking, and reporting for management review.
Lead installation, commissioning, and validation of new machinery and systems.
Prepare and maintain documentation for ISO audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
C. Compliance & Safety Governance
Act as primary liaison with regulatory authorities: DOE, JKKP, MBSP, TNB, and Pharmacy Board.
Chair the Safety Committee; drive HIRARC, LEV management, safety training, and compliance programs.
Ensure full adherence to environmental (NRA), health, and safety regulations.
Compile and submit periodic ESG and sustainability reports.
Key Responsibilities:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in maintenance and facility management within plating, electroplating, or chemical process industries.
Strong technical knowledge of plating plant systems: water treatment, waste gas scrubbing, cooling, and electrical distribution.
Proven experience in ISO systems, audit management, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent vendor management, negotiation, and project coordination skills.
Proficient in maintenance software, CMMS, and MS Office.
Certified Safety and Health Officer (SHO) or similar credentials are highly preferred.
Leadership ability with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
