A leading technology company in Kulai, Malaysia is seeking an Operation & Maintenance Technician to manage equipment operations and ensure compliance with safety protocols. Candidates should possess a diploma in Mechanical & Electrical or related disciplines along with at least 6 months of experience in data center operations. Proficiency in Mandarin is an advantage, and the role involves working closely with supervisors to ensure smooth operations and maintenance tasks.
Operation & Maintenance Technician Job Responsibilities:
Operate plant equipment and systems in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Monitor process parameters, alarms, and equipment performance during operations.
Perform start-up, shutdown, and routine operational checks.
Identify and report abnormal operating conditions promptly.
Carry out routine preventive maintenance tasks as scheduled.
Assist in corrective maintenance and basic troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment.
Support maintenance work orders and ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities.
Maintain housekeeping and ensure tools and equipment are properly used and stored.
Comply with all safety rules, permit-to-work systems, and lockout/tagout procedures.
Participate in toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and emergency response activities.
Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.
Record operational data, readings, and maintenance activities accurately.
Complete logbooks, checklists, and shift reports as required.
Support audits and inspections by providing accurate records and information.
Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and other technicians to ensure smooth plant operations.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and follow corrective actions.
Maintenance TechnicianJob Responsibilities:
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance according to maintenance plans and checklists.
Carry out corrective and breakdown maintenance on mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation equipment.
Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machinery, tools, and facilities systems.
Diagnose equipment faults and implement effective repair solutions.
Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
Replace defective parts and ensure proper machine setup after repairs.
Comply with safety procedures, lockout/tagout, and permit-to-work requirements.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
Report hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly.
Update maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history accurately.
Prepare maintenance reports and handover notes.
Support audits, inspections, and compliance activities.
Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency.
Participate in improvement projects and cost‑saving initiatives.
Support installation, commissioning, and modification of equipment when required.
Requirements for above positions:
Diploma or above in Mechanical & Electrical, Electrical, HVAC, or related disciplines;
at least 6 months of data center O&M experience, familiar with data center O&M systems, processes, documentation, and procedures.
Mandarin speaker is an advantage
able to communicate normally in English; Mandarin proficiency is preferred.
Has a basic understanding of data center electrical, HVAC, and ELV systems, and understands the basic data center architecture.
Good discipline and compliance; able to perform correct equipment operations under the guidance of shift supervisors or professional engineers.
