Overview
Fraser and Neave – Kampung Tampin, Negeri Sembilan
To lead the maintenance and engineering function across the dairy farm, feed center, and related facilities. The role ensures that milking systems, refrigeration units, water and effluent treatment plants, electrical systems, and farm utilities are maintained to optimal performance and safety standards, minimizing downtime and supporting production efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Program covering all mechanical, electrical, and utility systems.
- Create and manage maintenance schedules for farm machinery, milking parlors, pumps, compressors, generators, silage equipment, tractors, feed mixers, and refrigeration systems.
- Ensure compliance with OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) recommendations and statutory maintenance requirements.
- Establish maintenance KPIs (downtime, MTBF, MTTR, cost per litre of milk) and continuously improve performance.
- Oversee the maintenance of:
- Refrigeration and milk cooling tanks
- Feed handling and mixing systems
- Water supply, plumbing, and wastewater systems
- Power distribution panels, gensets, transformers, and electrical systems
- Farm vehicles and machinery (tractors, loaders, mixers, harvesters)
- Buildings, barns, roads, and farm utilities
- Ensure rapid response to breakdowns and prioritize repairs to minimize production disruptions.
- Develop SOPs for maintenance tasks and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Manage and monitor water supply, wastewater treatment, and energy usage to ensure sustainability targets are met.
- Oversee operation and maintenance of the biogas or effluent management systems, if applicable.
- Optimize energy efficiency of equipment (e.g., milk chillers, pumps, compressors).
- Maintain records of electricity, diesel, and water consumption and report on cost trends.
- Enforce compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), DOSH, Energy Commission, and Department of Environment requirements.
- Ensure all electrical and mechanical works meet regulatory standards and are documented properly.
- Support audits, inspections, and certification renewals (e.g., pressure vessel, boiler, or cold-room systems).
- Work with the QA and Farm Management teams to ensure equipment cleanliness and hygiene compliance (especially for milk-handling systems).
- Identify and implement engineering improvements to reduce downtime, maintenance cost, and energy use.
- Support automation and digitization initiatives — e.g., integrating IoT-based monitoring, maintenance software (CMMS), or condition-based monitoring tools.
- Participate in root-cause analysis of equipment failures and recommend long-term solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Industrial Maintenance (Diploma with strong experience may be considered).
- Minimum 8–10 years of maintenance experience in food processing, dairy, or agro-industrial facilities.
- Strong background in mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems maintenance.
- Experience managing large facilities with utility systems (HVAC, water, wastewater, power).
- Familiar with CMMS or ERP-based maintenance systems (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo).
- Sound knowledge of safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Proven leadership in managing multi-disciplinary maintenance teams.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with hands-on practical capability.
- Ability to plan and respond effectively to breakdowns and emergencies.
