About the role

As a Construction Manager at HSL CONSTRUCTOR SDN BHD, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the successful delivery of construction projects in Pengerang, Johor. This contract position is responsible for managing all aspects of the construction process, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

What you'll be doing

Lead end-to-end site works execution that are carried out accordingly based on approved detailed drawings, technical specifications, interpreted plans and requirements of relevant authorities.

Manage project execution and budget are maintained and delivered in a timely manner.

Provide recommendations for alternative solutions and selects, modifies or adapts standards, techniques and procedures in construction work.

Manage contract administration and construction inspections for moderately complex projects, including reviewing final plans, specifications, special conditions and agreements.

Oversee operationalization of the following plans and documents provided: Job Safety Analysis, Method Statement, Lifting Plans, Ventilation Plan, Rescue Plan, Mobilization & Demobilization Plan, Floor Plan, Road Closure and Re-routing Plan and Environmental Plan.

Manage project requirements and estimates resources by allocating correct resources such as manpower, materials and equipment.

Managing job costing in preparation through Bill of Quantities and quotation.

Provides input into the preparation of contracts and participates in the negotiation of revisions of contractual agreements with all stakeholders (e.g. architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors).

Work under the advice of the Safety Officer to manage all compliance and safety requirements with regulatory and industry standards and requirements during the construction phase.

Conduct quality and workmanship management of the sub-contractors throughout all the work process phases towards completion of projects with clients.

Monitor and conduct inspection of the quality and workmanship of the sub-contractors the work process phase and completion phase of projects with clients.

Manage project shut down by through documentation to ensure all finances closed-out; capturing lessons learned; contract closed and updates on all company process assets.

Engage in conflict management under the advice of the HR department through various methods/channels such as employee counselling, mediation, dispute resolution and arbitration for all project stakeholders.

What we're looking for

Significant experience (8+ years) in a construction management role, preferably in the construction industry

Excellent project management skills, with the ability to plan, coordinate, and execute complex construction projects

Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes

Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contracts

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with clients, contractors, and team members

Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on safety and quality

Familiarity with relevant software and digital tools used in the construction industry

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
