About The Department

UOB Innovation Hub 2 (InnoHub2) is a wholly owned subsidiary and a Centre of Excellence based in Malaysia, providing Group Business Services (GBS) to support the UOB Group. Started in 2021 with technology application design, development, and support, InnoHub2 is expanding to deliver other business services to support the Bank’s growth ambition. Job Responsibilities

This position manages and resolves complex employee relations issues, provides guidance on policies, collaborates with legal counsel, engages with employees and related bodies like MEF, and conducts training on employment laws. The role involves monitoring trends, collaborating with HR for a cohesive experience, and supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to foster a positive, inclusive workplace.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  1. Investigate, manage, and resolve complex employee relations issues, including performance management, disciplinary inquiries, workplace conflicts, and harassment or discrimination allegations.
  2. Provide guidance and coaching to leaders and managers on employee relations matters, ensuring consistency and fairness in policy application.
  3. Develop, implement, and maintain employee relations policies, procedures, handbooks, and guidelines in compliance with employment laws and best practices.
  4. Partner with legal counsel as needed to address employment-related legal issues and minimize risks.
  5. Engage and collaborate with employee representative bodies, including various employee groups within UOB IH2, such as Taskforce members.
  6. Conduct regular learning and development sessions for leaders and managers on employment laws and employee relations topics.
  7. Monitor and analyze employee relations trends, proactively developing strategies to address potential issues.
  8. Collaborate across HR functions to ensure a cohesive employee experience.
  9. Assist in developing and implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to create a supportive work environment.
  10. Ensure compliance with corporate policies, laws, and regulations, staying updated on legislative changes.
  11. Review and verify cases involving misconduct or employment issues reported to HR, liaising with relevant departments for investigation.
  12. Prepare investigation reports for management evaluation.
  13. Draft disciplinary correspondence, prosecute Domestic Inquiries, and provide internal disciplinary consultations.
  14. Investigate and escalate staff grievances appropriately.
  15. Provide counselling to employees on work-related problems.
  16. Represent the Company in industrial disputes and attend to labour or IR cases as needed.
  17. Establish relationships with industry players, legal practitioners, and relevant agencies.
  18. Ensure adherence to employment laws, HR policies, and best practices to minimize risks.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in employee relations, law, or HR, with at least 3 years in Industrial Relations, Employee Relations, or Union Relations, preferably in banking or GBS environment.
  • Deep knowledge of Malaysian employment laws and regulations.
  • Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
  • Experience in developing employee relations policies and procedures.
  • Experience with foreign workers is highly advantageous.
  • Ability to promote a positive work environment and foster team synergy.
