ASSISTANT HEAD OF PRIMARY – HEAD OF EYFS
Location: The British international School Kuala Lumpur
The British International School Kuala Lumpur is looking to recruit an Assistant Head of Primary with specific responsibility for leading and developing our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Everything we do is driven by our vision: to nurture resilient, creative global citizens who will go on to change our world for the better.
By joining a Nord Anglia Education school as Assistant Head of Primary (Head of EYFS), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the very first steps of our children’s educational journey, ensuring they thrive academically, socially, and emotionally in a safe, engaging, and inspiring environment.
As Assistant Head of Primary (Head of EYFS), you will:
Lead the strategic direction, development, and day‑to‑day management of EYFS, ensuring excellence in teaching, learning, and care.
Inspire and support a team of class teachers and assistant teachers, driving professional growth and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
Ensure the EYFS curriculum is creative, purposeful, and fully aligned with the school’s vision and values, while also reflecting the best of international early years practice.
Promote high‑quality provision across all areas of learning, with a strong emphasis on play, inquiry, and holistic development.
Monitor children’s progress rigorously, ensuring assessment is meaningful and used to inform next steps in learning.
Work closely with families, building positive and supportive relationships so that parents are fully engaged in their child’s learning journey.
Champion safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion within the EYFS, ensuring every child feels safe, valued, and empowered to thrive.
Collaborate with the Primary Leadership Team to ensure smooth transitions from EYFS into Key Stage 1 and contribute to whole‑school initiatives.
Celebrate diversity and promote equity through events, enrichment activities, and inclusive practices that reflect our global school community.
Model the school’s values in all aspects of leadership, fostering a culture of respect, empathy, and ambition for every child.
We are looking for a qualified and experienced Early Years specialist with a passion for child‑centred learning, strong pedagogical knowledge, and proven leadership experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to inspire and develop colleagues, create outstanding learning environments, and ensure that every child in the EYFS is supported to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Keen to collaborate and share your specialist expertise, you will be a fitting ambassador for the school. You will communicate with confidence across diverse audiences and situations, using your expertise to build strong relationships with parents and students. You will be able to adapt quickly to our fast‑paced international environment as well as meet visa‑related restrictions for restrictions for Malaysia.
At Nord Anglia Education, we are an equal opportunities employer dedicated to creating a diverse and inclusive workforce. In our schools and offices around the world, we treat all colleagues fairly based on their skills and qualifications, without discrimination. We value individuals from all backgrounds, including those with different abilities and neurodivergent conditions, as well as those who identify with various protected characteristics.
