Amphenol DC Electronics Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a talented and experienced QA Manager or Assistant QA Manager to join their dynamic team in Simpang Ampat, Penang. The QA Manager / Assistant QA Manager is responsible for overseeing and improving the Quality Assurance program within a custom cable assembly and wire harness manufacturing environment. This role ensures all products meet customer specifications, industry standards (IPC/WHMA-A-620, ISO 9001, AS9100 if applicable), regulatory requirements, and internal quality objectives. The QA leader will manage inspection processes, drive continuous improvement, support customers during audits, and collaborate cross-functionally to resolve quality issues.

• Maintain, enforce, and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001/AS9100 standards.
• Ensure adherence to IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship requirements for cable assemblies and wire harnesses.
• Develop, implement, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality documentation.
• Lead internal audits and support external customer and certification audits.
• Manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Supervise and mentor quality inspectors performing incoming, in-process, and final inspections of cables, connectors, soldered terminations, crimps, wire harnesses, and electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Approve first article inspections (FAI) and ensure product verification to customer drawings, BOMs, and specifications.
• Oversee testing activities including continuity testing, hipot testing, pull-force testing, and electrical/mechanical validation.
• Analyze inspection metrics and defect trends to identify improvement opportunities.
• Serve as a primary customer contact for quality-related matters, including PPAP, FAI submissions, NCR responses, and quality reports.
• Collaborate with engineering and production to review drawings, resolve manufacturability challenges, and ensure quality planning for new product introductions (NPI).
• Partner with manufacturing to ensure proper process controls, tooling, and operator certification. Verify proper setup and calibration of crimp tools, applicators, stripping equipment, and automated harness machines.
• Support process validation and qualification for new materials, connectors, terminals, and assemblies. Ensure training and certification of assembly operators in IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
• Lead, supervise, and train QA team members. Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Support strategic initiatives to improve scrap rates, on-time delivery, and customer satisfaction.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
• 3–7+ years of experience in Quality Assurance within custom cable assembly, wire harness, or electromechanical manufacturing. Experience in a management or lead QA role is preferred.
• Strong understanding of IPC/WHMA-A-620, crimp standards, soldering, and cable/harness assembly processes.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
• Experience with inspection tools and equipment (micrometers, pull testers, multimeters, continuity testers, etc.).
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities
• Proficient in root cause analysis (8D, Fishbone, 5 Whys, FMEA).
