Responsibilities
- Manage and execute prototype requests, supporting both engineering and lab activities.
- Operate and maintain AM machines, conventional milling machines, and other workshop equipment.
- Ensure all machines meet operational standards and troubleshoot minor programming errors.
- Review and validate CAD files for scale, size, and printability; schedule and prioritise printing tasks.
- Interpret CAD drawings and technical instructions; inspect parts for dimensional accuracy.
- Coordinate with engineers and suppliers for tool maintenance and rectification.
- Perform machining tasks such as grinding, cutting, and drilling as needed.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, 5S) to enhance productivity, quality, and safety.
- Handle administrative tasks including consumables tracking, tool records, and safety audits.
- Design and manufacture jigs and fixtures for development and prototyping.
- Maintain knowledge of standard parts and their applications.
- Contribute to safety documentation, procedures, and audits.
- Manage team tasks based on project priorities and resources.
- Recommend prototyping methods and technologies to ensure reliable prototype samples.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Minimum 8 years experience in machining, prototyping, or similar industries.
- Expertise in AM technologies (FDM, SLA, SLS) and vacuum casting.
- Strong experience with conventional milling, lathe, and CO₂ laser cutting machines.
- Skilled in CNC setup, programming (CAM/CNC codes), and operation of machining centres.
- Proficient in using measuring tools for accurate dimensions.
- Hands‑on experience with AM technology and post‑processing is an advantage.
- Extensive experience in model making and hand tool usage.
- Knowledge of 5S principles and continuous improvement practices.
- Familiarity with material properties (plastic, metal, etc.) and technical drawings.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and team collaboration skills.
- Ability to coach and monitor lab associates.
- Understanding of standards and compliance (ASTM, UL, IEC).
- Diligent, detail‑oriented, and able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
