Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Selangor is looking for an OSH Manager to oversee compliance with ISO standards, implement safety programs, and lead training initiatives. The ideal candidate should possess a bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, hold a valid Green Book, and have at least 7 years of experience in SSHE management. Strong leadership, risk assessment skills, and proficiency in both English and Bahasa Malaysia are essential. This role requires adapting to a fast-paced environment and traveling to sites across Malaysia as needed.

Qualifications

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Develop system and all required documentation for compliance ISO 45001:2018 and obtain certification from SIRIM or certification bodies within 6 months.
  • Execute relevant OSH programme through planning, implementation, monitoring and continuous evaluation to meet OSHA 1994 & FMA 1967 requirements and standard on an annual basis for all USME projects and serviced sites.
  • Develop, respond and lead the organization in any OSH related emergency or crisis (e.g., OSH incidents, fire safety, road safety and pandemics) to minimize impact and consequences.
  • Provide advice, direction and strategy to the company on OSH policies, safety promotion and other OSH accident prevention programmes on an annual basis.
  • Ensure reporting of all OSH issues to management and related government agencies.
  • Investigate any accident, incident, near‑miss accident, dangerous occurrence or occupational disease within the organization in compliance with NADOPOD Regulation 2004 requirements.
  • Develop, establish and execute a Safety & Health Committee for the organization, ensuring meetings are held on a quarterly basis.
  • Develop, organize and provide OSH related training for employees and subcontractors to educate and instil OSH awareness.
  • Manage subcontractors by imposing certain system requirements and ensuring compliance through onsite inspections and audits.
  • Work and liaise with all relevant OSH authorities on investigations, audits, inspections and training (e.g., DOSH, Bomba, NIOSH and NGOs).
  • Update, keep and maintain accurate records and documents.
Qualifications
  • Candidate must possess at least a bachelor’s degree, post‑graduate diploma or professional degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or equivalent.
  • Candidate must be registered with DOSH and hold a valid Green Book.
  • Candidate holding professional certification such as NEBOSH, OSHA, CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or similar SSHE qualifications is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 7 years of working experience in SSHE management, preferably in a manufacturing field.
  • In‑depth knowledge of Malaysian SSHE regulations (e.g., OSHA 1994, EQA 1974, FMA 1967) and international standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
  • Proficiency in risk assessment methodologies, incident investigation techniques and emergency response planning.
  • Proficiency in using SSHE management systems, software tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with safety equipment, environmental monitoring tools and security systems.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills, capable of handling documentation, reports and regulatory filings.
  • Willingness to travel to different sites within Malaysia and work outside regular hours when necessary.
  • Fluent speaking and writing in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
