The Head of Risk and Compliance is responsible for safeguarding the company’s financial stability, operational integrity, and reputatbion through comprehensive risk identification, assessment, mitigation, assurance, and regulatory adherence. This role integrates strategic risk management and compliance oversight to maintain a balanced risk-reward profile and ensure full alignment with legal and regulatory standards within the insurance industry.

Job Description:

Establish and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to track risk exposures, and prepare regular Financial Position Reports (FPRs) to inform senior leadership of financial and operational risk profiles, trends, and mitigation efforts.

Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management strategy aligned with organizational objectives, utilizing tools like the Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) and Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) to identify, assess, and mitigate operational and strategic risks.

Promote a strong risk culture across the organization by leading risk education initiatives, integrating risk considerations into decision-making processes.

Design, implement, and continuously improve compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and best practices.

Lead regulatory compliance efforts, ensuring timely reporting, proactive response to regulatory changes, and effective implementation of AML and ATF programs.

Oversee internal controls and the compliance quality assurance program, conducting compliance reviews, risk assessments, and investigations to detect and remediate non-compliance or process weaknesses.

Develop and manage a comprehensive financial crime compliance program, including fraud detection and prevention strategies, anti-bribery controls, and coordination with internal units and external authorities.

Provide transparent risk and compliance updates to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clarity on exposures, mitigation efforts, and strategic impact through regular reporting and effective communication.

Lead, mentor, and build high-performing risk and compliance teams, fostering continuous development and ensuring capability to meet evolving regulatory and organizational risk challenges.

Requirement:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Business Administration, Law, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields.

At least 7-11 years of experience in risk management / compliance within the insurance or financial services industry.

Deep understanding of life insurance products, market dynamics, and regulatory landscape.

Demonstrated success in developing and implementing risk management strategies and frameworks.

Proficient in risk assessment methodologies and tools.

Exceptional analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills.

Implement and enforce compliance policies and procedures across the company.

Mandatory: certification in Risk Management, other certification is an advantage (FLMI, AAIJ, AAAIJ, CAMS, CFE and CISA)
