Job summary
A healthcare provider in Leyland is seeking a Senior Substance Misuse Nurse to join their Mental Health team at HMP Garth. We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Substance Misuse Nurse to join our Mental Health team at HMP Garth. HMP Garth has a capacity of around 800 males and is a category B prison located in Lancashire. You will mainly be based in the Healthcare Department, however wing work will also be required as and when.

This position is permanent and you will receive an annual salary between £43,609 - £49,175 per annum depending on experience.

- Prioritise patient care to develop individualised packages of care through comprehensive assessment and recovery planning.
- Deliver a range of treatment options including clinical and psychosocial interventions in both a group and 1-1 setting with recovery at the centre of our healthcare wellbeing model.
- Carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans and confidently communicate the full range of treatment options available to service users.
- Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects and liaise with prescribers.
- Work with individuals on a 1-1 basis, providing advice and information; support in group work delivery and liaise with prescribers and Recovery Practitioners on clinical interventions.
- Occasionally support dispensing.
- Registered nurse with current NMC registration – Adult / Mental Health
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD).
- RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse or willingness to undertake.
- Experience of working with opiate dependent patients.
- Sound clinical substance misuse knowledge.
- A non-judgemental and compassionate approach.
- Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
