Job summary
A leading civil engineering contractor in South Africa is seeking a professionally registered Site Agent to oversee major national roads projects in the Northern Cape. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years' experience in civil construction, including at least 5 years in a site management role. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential, along with knowledge of construction contracts. This role offers a negotiable salary based on experience.

RPO Recruitment's client, a well-established civil engineering contractor with a proven track record in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects across South Africa, is currently seeking a professionally registered Site Agent to lead the delivery of major national roads projects in the Northern Cape.
- Manage all on-site construction activities to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to specified quality and safety standards.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee project resources, including labour, plant, subcontractors, and materials.
- Liaise closely with the client, engineers, and consultants to maintain strong professional relationships and ensure compliance with project specifications and contractual requirements.
- Prepare and manage construction programmes, cost reports, and progress documentation.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop site teams to achieve performance and productivity targets.
- Manage contract administration, variations, and claims in collaboration with the project manager and quantity surveying team.
- Drive continuous improvement in construction methodologies and quality management systems.
- BTech / BEng / National Diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- Pr Eng / Pr Tech Eng / Pr Techni Eng registration with ECSA or Pr CM registration with SACPCMP (essential).
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in civil construction, with at least 5 years in a Site Agent or Senior Site Management role on large-scale national or equivalent road projects.
- Proven ability to manage complex, multi-disciplinary road construction projects including earthworks, layerworks, drainage, and surfacing.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., GCC, FIDIC, or NEC).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Willingness to be based on site in the Northern Cape.
- Salary Negotiable, depending on experience and qualifications.
