Job summary
A leading global technology and gaming company is seeking a Localization Expert to manage the translation of game content into Bahasa Malaysia. This full-time role requires at least 2 years of localization experience, proficiency in gaming terminology, and collaboration with a global team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and excellent command of both Bahasa Malaysia and English, with a strong understanding of cultural nuances in gaming. You will support the quality control of translations and ensure a seamless gaming experience for users.

This is a critical role for a passionate expert to ensure high-quality and culturally relevant localization of game content for the Bahasa Malaysia speaking audience. You will be the sole dedicated in-house resource, acting as a crucial bridge between the global development team and local players. This role is a full-time, in-office position, requiring a strong commitment to quality and quick turnaround times.
- Oversee the full localization workflow for multiple projects into Bahasa Malaysia (Bahasa Melayu), ensuring translations are accurate, culturally relevant, and meet quality standards.
- Adapt and translate in-game content, including dialogue, marketing materials, and other related assets from English to Bahasa Malaysia, with a focus on gamer-specific terminology and tone.
- Track and evaluate player feedback regarding Bahasa Malaysia content, addressing issues and implementing improvements as needed.
- Work closely with the global team based in China to ensure alignment on localization strategies and project objectives.
- Support the management and quality control of external Bahasa Malaysia localization contractors.
- Perform in-game testing to verify that translations create a smooth and engaging experience for players.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in localization or translation, ideally within the gaming or technology sectors.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in any discipline; a background in Linguistics and Translation.
- Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia, with excellent grammar, specialized vocabulary (particularly gaming terminology), idioms, and the ability to convey complex ideas accurately.
- Upper-intermediate level or higher in English, sufficient for understanding source material and communicating internationally.
- Mandarin is required for internal collaboration with the China-based team.
- Skilled in Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools such as Trados, SmartCat, or Phrase, and proficient in standard Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong cross-cultural communication and adaptability, with sensitivity to cultural differences, regional contexts, and local customs relevant to the audience.
- Highly self-disciplined, capable of working independently, solving problems, and taking full ownership of projects.
- Genuine passion for mobile games and a solid understanding of gaming terminology and the gaming community.
