Job summary
Lead the end-to-end planning function covering demand translation, outbound capacity planning, and transport resource optimization. This role serves as the central orchestrator between S&OP, Commercial, DC Operations, Transport, Shipping, and Inventory Management to ensure seamless execution of demand forecasts into operational plans. A key part of the role is to ensure planning supports operational performance to meet service levels for both clients and customers, while optimizing resources and cost.
Job Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Forecast Integration
- Work closely with the S&OP and Demand Planning teams to obtain accurate and timely yearly, monthly, weekly, and daily forecasts.
- Translate commercial demand plans into volume projections for Distribution Centres (DCs) and Transport teams.
- Conduct long-term scenario planning (3–12 months outlook) to anticipate volume spikes, seasonal surges, and campaign requirements.
Distribution Centre (DC) Capacity Planning
- Develop capacity models for outbound picking, loading, and dispatch operations.
- Ensure forecasted volumes are communicated early to DC Operations for manpower, MHE, and shift planning.
- Monitor daily performance to ensure DC execution meets required service levels (SLA/KPIs).
- Work with HR to plan manpower requirements in advance (permanent + contract/temporary workforce).
Transport Planning & Optimization
- Lead the development of transport capacity plans including fleet allocation, route design, and transporter readiness.
- Ensure visibility of forecasted volumes to transport partners and internal planning teams.
- Optimize truck utilization, routing, and dispatch timing to balance SLA achievement with cost efficiency.
- Support network optimization initiatives such as route restructuring, consolidation, and multimodal options together with Transport department
Service Level & Cost Management
- Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly plans enable operations to meet service performance targets for both clients and end customers.
- Integrate cost considerations into all planning decisions, ensuring optimal balance between service, productivity, and cost-to-serve.
- Identify planning or execution gaps that may cause delays, non-compliance, or additional cost, and drive timely corrective actions.
Commercial Collaboration & Demand Insights
- Work closely with the Commercial team to understand promo schedules, launches, tenders, and customer requirements.
- Translate commercial inputs into clear volume impact and operational plans for DC and Transport teams.
- Facilitate weekly alignment meetings to address forecast deviations and risk mitigation.
Inbound Planning & Coordination
- Collaborate with Shipping/Import teams and Inventory Management to obtain visibility of incoming shipments.
- Align inbound flows with available capacity and outbound scheduling requirements.
- Support operation for replenishment flows, inter-DC transfers, and buffer stock strategies to ensure overall DC capacity in optimal level
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Develop dashboards and planning reports to monitor forecast accuracy, capacity utilization, SLA achievement, and cost performance.
- Track plan vs actual variances and drive improvement initiatives.
- Ensure timely communication of planning risks and mitigation strategies to all stakeholders.
Process & Systems Improvement
- Lead planning digitalization initiatives involving forecasting platforms, warehouse planning tools, and transport systems.
- Standardize planning processes, templates, and SOPs across all regions/markets.
- Continuously improving planning accuracy, visibility, and communication channels.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, Business, or related fields (Master’s added advantage).
- Familiar with FMCG, distribution networks, and high-volume operational environments.
- Computer literate, with the capability to use systems for information access and report functions
- Experienced in MS Office applications such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
- Excellent organization ability
- Strong people skills with excellent communication ability
- Comprehension of warehousing and distribution processes and procedures
- Must be hands on, diligent and good real-time troubleshooting skills is a must
- Knowledge on routing and transport network optimization
- Customer service and impact of communicating with both internal and external customers to give accurate and timely information
- Communications in both written and oral format. Interpersonal skills, a team player and ability to cope with demanding work schedules and able to meet deadlines

- Must be well-organized, pro-active and self-directed, able to perform with minimal supervision
- Able to deal with the demands of a fast pace environment
- At least 4 to 5 years operations experience in warehousing, distribution and transport
- Understanding of high complexity transport Operations (many products and many drop points)
